January Meeting

We were honored to have the President of the Veteran’s Center, Richard Voutour as our guest speaker for our monthly meeting on January 17, 2024. He let us know about the Massachusetts “Welcome Home” bonus that our sons and daughters are eligible for. He shared that active duty service members from MA are eligible to receive up to $1500. Rick can help with the application even if you do not live in Leominster. Rick is incredibly supportive of the Blue Star Mothers, if you have questions about this bonus, please reach out to Rick.

He also shared eligibility for VA Healthcare, how to obtain lost DD214’s, shared that service members from Leominster are eligible to receive a free banner for two years, and much more. It was a great night overall, and a wonderful way to start 2024. Rick was incredibly engaging, witty and attentive to all of our questions and showed interest in learning about all of the Blue Star Mother’s service members and/or Veterans.

We also signed Valentines Day cards to go with cups of candy that will be distributed to Veterans at the VA Hospital. Thank you to our members Sharon and Rose for putting these together.
